April 15 was the 96th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic. almost a century ago. the tragedy became that impactful was due to the fact that it sank right after its maiden voyage, with 1517 people perished with her.
if you watch the movie, remember the band who played in the ship? the 8-member-band. none of them survived of course when the last thing they hold onto was their instrument.
Wallace Hartley, The ship's bandmaster who plays uplifting music with his colleagues on the boat deck as the ship sinks, culminating in a final, emotional performance of
Nearer, My God, to Thee. His final words are "Gentlemen. It has been a privilege playing with you tonight." that is how the movie portrayed the final scene of the band but this guy no doubt was the historical character who played his final piece with his band member till the very end...
that is the spirit of... a brave soldier? but anyway, they were the true men of the event. whether is it spirit of soldier or mere musicians.
after some reading up, it left only one last survivor of the event who is still living. the second last passed away last year...
music of the day! titanic soundtrack~
