was with Zishan for her SIA recruitment a couple of days ago. Interview was held in Gand Hyatt hotel and it was WOW! amazing lot of people! Exact figure...not sure. 1500+ according to Zishan. She manage to get through on the first day. Everybody thought it was a miracle. Seriously, she don't have the strong urge to be a cabin crew thats why the tension during the interview was not there. Guess she pulled through because of that. Anyway, this is my first time seeing so many pretty girls in one place in my life...haha, a bit exaggerating. But these girls can really do make up! Bad things is... guys wise... there aint many eye candies to look out for.
According to her, only about 300 passed the first one. If you calculate it, its only approx 1/4 who got through, including Zishan. Haha, Zishan said the panels didnt want "pretty ones"... hmmm...Zishan, are you implying that you aint pretty thats why you got through?
Quite true though. My experiences with Singapore Girls (sorry, Boys too) tell quite a lot. the judges want inner beauty rather going for a vase (harsh a bit, bimbo). If you want to be a flight cabin crew, tell yourself, during a real putting-your-life-at-stake emergency, are you the one crying for help or the one helping other?
I guess the real test came in after the first round. She tensed up, I guess. Underperformed and... didnt get through. OMG, I just swore that if she didnt get through, I will accompany her for the next recruit...... ....... Zishan, please forget about it...
but anyway, im always quite curious about who is the designer of the Sarong Kebaya uniform... well, the uniform is iconic but... doesnt appeal me alot. I mean... if you compare the malaysia airline cabin crew uniform and SIA, dont you find that it really look alike?
the sarong thing originated from malay. so, theoretically it is not wrong that Malaysia airline should inherit the style. As for SIA... since it has become an icon, changing it....like what everybody is saying, its like taking away our Merlion...
so, instead of changing the design...why not enhance (or alter, call it whatever you want) it? Airline companies change their uniform...though not regularly, but changing it for a better... err... actually not. the westerned-suit-uniform is still largely seen in many many airlines. sorry, im contradicting myself.
Plus, because of the Kebaya, Singapore Girls stand out. But what about the Singapore Boys? they are really poor things. They do their job as good as the girls but not well credited. Why? Partly because of not being the icon too. so...the uniform's fault? Why not have the uniform altered in a way both Boys and Girls can be iconic in a beautiful way?
Malaysia Airline... similar?
Delta Air! The new design which appeal me a lot....though still lacking a bit of identity, it brings out the crew's charisma to the max.
Air France? yes, still the best design, i thought. Simple, Smart and Sleek.
Hmm... should I say this now? okay, since its my blog. I have the right to say whatever I want...in a responsible way, right.
There it goes. I had a few flight experience with SIA. They were all pleasant ones except for my last trip back from Japan. Did the service downgraded or what? Claire said it was the nastiest service she had ever encountered with flight crews. One of the cabin girl who was in-charge of our row was the bad one. super "black" face throughout, as though we owed her $1 million. Scalded me with the tong when I received the towel (I know its accidentally, but pain leh). PLUS! she spoke Singlish! OMG...Singlish is not something to be proud of to start with. I heard that your English should be abrove managable level...at least in terms of conversing if you want to be part of the flying team. How can you be speaking singlish to us?
Remembered she asked us to "wait huh, I'll come back to you" when we requested for water. We didnt speak to her in singlish to start with anyway.
In conclusion, I can only say that she was way too tired through out the flying... but this is not an excuse for a pro. The smoking case too. still all over the web, debating whether smoking (in uniform) is right or wrong. Well, even though there is no rule saying that Singapore Girls cant smoke in public...but since someone bought up, even if its not wrong, does it serve some meaning upon doing some reflection on the image? After all, this ain't something to be debatable about. imagine doctor/nurse the "white uniform angels", smoking?
